Energy Saving Quick Tips

Saturday, July 17th, 2010

I am a proponent of finding ways to save our planet, preserve it for our children and their children. Yes I’m involved with an Energy Company that is involved in the Deregulation of Energy. It can only benefit the end user by saving money and at the same time help all of us. Here are some quick tips for you to review.

Easy No Cost and Low Cost Ways to Save Energy

No Cost Ways To Save Energy

Turn off your computer and monitor when not in use.
Turn off lights, televisions and other appliances when not in use
Lower the thermostat on your hot water heater to 120°F.
Reduce hot water use by taking shorter showers and using cold water for the rinse cycle in your washer
Run your dishwasher and clothes washer only when full
Clean refrigerator coils regularly to keep compressor running efficiently
Set the refrigerator temperature at 36° to 39° F and freezer at 0° to 5° F
Use the microwave when possible it cooks faster and does’t create as much heat as a stove burner
Air dry dishes instead of using your dishwasher’s drying cycle.
Match the size of your pot or pan to the size of the burner
Make sure your dryer’s outside vent is clear and clean the lint filter after every load
Keep all windows and doors located near your thermostat closed tightly
Keep heat sources such as lamps and appliances away from your thermostat
Wash only full loads of dishes and clothes.
Keep your thermostat at 68°in winter and 78° in summer.
Dry one load of clothes immediately after another to minimize heat loss
Defrost frozen food in the refrigerator before cooking
Use the oven light to check on progress when cooking or baking
Keep your outside air unit clean and clear of debris or weeds
Use low-watt bulbs where lighting is not critical
Place floor lamps and hanging lamps in corners. The reflection off the walls will give you more light
Turn off outdoor lighting during the day.
Try timer switches or photoelectric controls if the finger method is a bother.
Keep your freezer full. The fuller the freezer, the less cold air you lose when opening the door
Use the self-cleaning cycle of your oven right after you finish baking.
That will give it a head start in heating up.
Hang on to appliance manuals so you can refer to them for care information and possible energy-saving tips.

Don’t Quit Your Own Team!

Thursday, April 29th, 2010

Look at all that you have done to get exactly
where you are right now, review all your
accomplishments, all of the many many
things that you had to learn to be standing
where you are standing Today. Try to allow
yourself to remember the commitment that
you made to this original plan. Remember the
certainty that you felt or conversely,
the uncertainty that you felt.

Have you stopped recently to give yourself
the credit that you deserve?

Probably not, Most of us haven’t.

We seem to get so caught up in our daily schedules
and habits, our challenges and our regrets that we
haven’t left much room in our lives to review our
successes or even more sadly to challenge ourselves
and set a new direction.

So, Where exactly does that leave us?
With discontent, which starts to grow
and we allow it to grow.

This is a self fulfilling prophecy, as they say and it is.
let’s look at this again:

We set our course, We Train, We Learn, We Accomplish
But ever so soon we forget about the accomplishments
because we have DIS.

We begin to feel stuck, we lack excitement, drive
and we lack what we used to have: Passion.

We Quit our Own Team.

Why is it that we are afraid to set a new course?
When you started your original path, you probably
had less then than you do now, you probably knew
far less than you do now, you probably even made
more mistakes back then than you do now.
So, What exactly is holding us back?

Passion for certain or even if you can’t muster up
passion, how about just plain good old, Excitement?

When was the last time you allowed
yourself to get excited about something?
Be Honest.

The other major component in setting a new and exciting course,
is a PLAN. Pure and simple. What’s your plan? what do you want to
accomplish, when & How. Those are the key ingredients to a PLAN.

The other important component and many people overlook this,
is leadership. Until you have your feet squarely on the ground
and are moving consistently in the direction that you want to go,
you need to surround yourself with like ‘visioned’ people that are
Already doing what you want to do and accomplishing what it is
that you want to accomplish.

This is not an over simplification, this is the reality. I am in the
business of guiding people towards new destinations, towards
taking Action on their own personal challenges that they have
allowed to collect dust for far too long.

I have to say that over half of the people who come to me have
convinced themselves that change would be far too difficult, far
too complicated. Well, it’s NOT.

If you actually took a minute to peel away all of the complications
or excuses that you have built around your new desire, you will see
a few things almost immediately:

A) You have spent far more time complicating
your vision than executing it.

B) You simply never worked out a PLAN, so of
course  the road ahead is really broad and
vague and impossible.

Right?

Do yourself a favor, because you know as
well as I do that ‘Tomorrow never comes’.

Take Action. Make A Plan. Find A Leader.

You are in the perfect place to affect change, You always have been.
Now is the time to realize how and what you had to do to get where
you are today, acknowledge how much more capable you are today
and SET YOUR SAILS!

The only person standing in my way is ME.
The only real critic I have is ME.

DON’T QUIT YOUR OWN TEAM!!
